Dreams, turning into reality

Sometime in 2011, I reaffirmed with myself that one of my major life goals is to come up with my own business…and I knew that I wanted to do something that had to do with the food business. I know that I want to become more self sufficient, and I chose the food business primarily because of the fact that I love food. I love experiencing new and different tastes, and learning about the stories and cultures behind dishes. So, I thought that since it’s one of my interests, it would be go. good if I could turn it into something where I can earn from. However, I wasn’t sure on WHEN I could start working to attain that goal.

Sometime last year though, while I was wondering and worrying about my future, since my contract was supposed to end on Decembeer 29, 2011, it hit me. Why can’t I start now? Why can’t I start learning skills I need and why can’t I start conceptualizing and working towards that goal now? So now, I’m having fun with my part time jobs, and learning new things when I practice recipes that I have researched on. (My family, though, becomes my unwilling guinea pigs). I’m only starting out, and there are a lot of new things to learn, and skills to develop, but I’m pretty sure that I will be able to get there soon. The good thing though (I think), is that I’m taking action and starting things now. 😀

Today marks a milestone and a first for me- I provided some food, snacks in particular, for a small event. This was a great learning experience for me because it was the first time I baked a lot of pastries, and it taught me how much time and effort I have to undergo when I bake or cook. It was also a challenge since I have been cooking more than I bake, but seeing the guests eating the food, and looking satisfied lets me know that everything was worth it.

Here are some pictures of the food for the event:

As the days and months go by, I plan to post the successful dishes and pastries that I have cooked. So, stay tuned for more tales about my small and budding business! 😀
